Doug w as first seen and photographed in Garden eels Cove on June 23, 2003, then again on August 3, 2003 and June 13,2004. He was named after Doug Farr who is an award winning underwater photographer and excellent diver. Doug frequently dives with Manta rays along the Kona coast.

More recently, Doug has received several injuries. In the summer of 2006, he arrived at Garden Eel Cove with a large fishing hook imbedded just in front of his right eye. Several weeks later, he arrived with a large "chunk" out of his right wing which appears to be prop damage. We will continue to monitor his healing progress.
