Shadow is a large male about 9' across with the
most prominent claspers of any of our regular mantas at the Kona Surf site. He
got his name because of his beautiful topside markings. Shadowy light stripes
run from his wing tips and his shoulders and merge in the center of his dark back
just above his dorsal fin. His underside markings are light gray and look more
like brush stokes than spots. Shadow is often the only male in attendance with
many females.
