This ray is a large female who was first identified at the Kona Surf site on April 21, 1996. She would stay close to shore and away from most divers and snorkelers. In May 1997, she again visited the Kona Surf and overcame her shyness and fed at the divers’ lights. Her left wing tip is damaged and folds up and back. Maluhia means “Peace” in the Hawaiian language. |
